The Prologue I Skipped

In the game I was Route Three: the cold duke, the bad ending, the man the heroine is warned about in the tutorial.
She knows this. She has played it. And still she walks up to me at the ball where I am supposed to have her exiled, and says, with the calm of someone who has read the ending, "Let’s do something the writers didn’t plan for."
No one has ever surprised me before. I find that I would very much like to be surprised again.
