I am, by the standards of my kind, exquisitely well-mannered. I say please. I say thank you. I ask before I take, which among monsters is practically a courtship ritual.
What I do not do is pretend I want less than I want. She learned that on the first night, when I asked so politely for something so entirely improper that she laughed out loud before she said yes.
Restraint is for creatures who fear the consequences of their appetite. I have no such fear. I have only very good manners, and a very long night ahead.
